Chirakkal Kovilakom is the branch of Kodungallur Kovilakam, adjacent to Padaakulam. Chirakkal Kovilakom is said to have got its name from its proximity to Padaakulam. Padaakulam is believed to have been bigger, as part of chira (bund), in the past and Kovilakam being near the chira became known as Chirakkal Kovilakam

Chirakkal Kovilakom has a traditional nalukettu as the main residential building. This kovilakom complex has two additional old buildings, family temple of Thalathil Bhagavathy, and Sarpakavu. Many new buildings also have come up in recent times

Any kind of guidance and support in improving an authenticity would be very helpful. We request support, especially in terms of information and specific write up , from all members and well wishers of Kodungallur Kovilakam.
